First Post!
So, I'm finally diving into the world of BLOGGING! It's taken me a while to get into this, but I feel like it's my TIME! HAHA! I love to write, stamp, and dance so why not have a blog about it? Everyone else is doing it... no peer pressure or anything!
I hope I am able to keep this updated every day. Some days might get hairy because of my insane schedule, but I should have time to update it!
Ok, so here is a little about me...
My name is Riley and I own Divine Dance Center in Roanoke, Virginia. I started the studio when I was a senior at Radford University where I majored in Elementary Education with a minor in dance. So, why open the studio while I was still in school??? Well, I was working for a studio and the summer before my senior year of college she decided to close down. Well, let me put it this way... I was going to school AND running the studio for her and NOT getting paid, so I quit and she ended up closing the studio. She still owes me over $1,000... hmmmmm! I opened up in a small space near my parent's house and taught classes every night after I got done with my 3rd and 5th grade student teaching. It was insane and I'm still not sure how I made it through the year. That was 3 years ago... now my student body has grown and we have moved to a bigger studio space. I'm still not making much money, but it grows every year and I love doing it. I am very fortunate to have a husband who supports me and the studio. One day I will be able to give back to him what he has given me. I am so greatful that he is understanding and loves the studio as much as I do!
Onward to stamping... I got into "heavy" stamping last February (2007). I never knew I would be THIS involved! I stamp close to every single day. My day mostly goes like this...
-Get up with DH
-Go upstairs and check email and surf SCS
-See DH off to work
-STAMP the day's challenge
-Shower
-Go to studio until usually around 9pm
Some days I don't get to stamp in the mornings... it just depends on what I have going on that day.
Anyway, I have grown so much as a stamper and I give full credit to Splitcoast Stampers, it's a great forum and community, if you are a stamper... GO THERE! I love it and the people are so great!
Well, I guess that's enough about me... got a question for me? Leave me a comment and I'll get right to ya!!
