Today's ways to use it challenge on Splitcoast Stampers was to use scissors. This sounds like it would be super easy, but for some reason it took me FOREVER! Maybe it's because I've been sick, or maybe because the challenge was so broad and there were so many choices of things to do. I don't know what the deal was, but you would have thought I was making some kind of masterpiece.. hahahaha!

I stamped the flowers on watercolor paper and cut them out, then I colored them. I first used a SU marker and colored the center of the flowers, then I used my Aqua Painter to blend the color onto the rest of the flower. I used my white Signo Gel pen for the white parts in the center of the flower.

Other details:

Cardstock: Taken with Teal, Whisper White, Watercolor Paper, Old Olive (all SU!)

Stamps: Embrace Life & Fancy Flexible Phrases (SU!)

Embellishments: Old Olive Wide Grosgrain Ribbon (SU!), Silver Brads (Making Memories), Rhinestone Brads (SU!), 1'' Circle Punch (Marvy), 1 1/4'' Circle Punch (Paper Shapers), Stampin' Up Markers (SU!), Aqua Painter (SU!)

I am going out of town tomorrow to judge a dance competition, so I won't have any cards uploaded until probably Wednesday of next week... ::insert sad face:: ... oh well, this is my first time judging a competition and I'm pretty pumped up about it! The pay is pretty decent to sit and critique dances... yay!

Have a great day... and I promise Blog Candy is coming....

I have hit 1,000 visits, so that means blog candy... I'll be back with that!

Leave some love and have a great day!

Double Pocket Card

Today's technique challenge was to make a double pocket card! This was really fun, but for some reason took me FOREVER to complete! I am happy with how it came out though!

You can find the tutorial for the double pocket cards on Judy's Blog found HERE!

The paper is East Coast Prep from Stampin' Up. I used the Creative Memories Cutting System to make the ovals. The scallop circle and regular circle were punched from Stampin' Up punches.
I have had the star brads FOREVER! I have no idea who makes them, but I was happy to use some of the stash!

The ribbon on the tags is from Stampin' Up (real red), Must Be Ribbon from the Spool (turquoise), and American Crafts (polka dot).
Thanks so much for looking!

Here is a picture with the tags inside the card:

Stamps: Just Celebrate (SU!), $1 stamp from Michael's

Embellishments: Star brads (unknown vendor), Scallop Circle Punch (SU!), 1 3/8 Circle Punch(SU!), Jumbo Eyelet (SU!), White eyelet (unknown vendor), Polka Dot Ribbon (American Crafts), Turquoise Wide Satin Ribbon (Must Be Ribbon from the Spool), Real Red Ribbon (SU!)

Cow Parade?

Ok, so today's challenge on Splitcoast Stampers was to use a cow parade figurine as inspiration for a card. I was at a total loss until I found this Ballerina Cow!!

I hadn't used my Dance Sketches set in a long time, so it was great to pull it out!

The card base is pretty in pink, black is layered on top of that. Then I used blush blossom behind the pretty in pink dp. The image is matted with regal rose. I used my white gel pen and black marker for the dots and dashes.

The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday's from the set "Words We Love". I got it in a Divine Secret Sisters package a few rounds ago on SCS.

What do you think?

I love this set and this color combo! The image was colored with SU markers, huffed, and then stamped. The backgrounds were created using cuttlebug embossing folders!

Pretty simple!

So the challenge on Splitcoast Stampers was to pick ONE non-neutral color and pair it with white. You were not allowed to use any other colors. I picked real red.... it sounded good at the time. I'm really not sure about this one. I think maybe the image was too small for the sketch I chose or something.

I think I'm going to try this again because I like how one color looks paired with white, I just am not toooooo happy with this one!

The sketch was based on Beate's Weekend Sketch found HERE.

So, what do you think?

Card Details:
Stamps : Just Celebrate (Stampin' Up)
Cardstock: Real Red, Whisper White, Real Red DP (all Stampin' Up)
Embellishments: Hardware (unknown vendor), Prima, Brad (unknown vendor), Ribbon (unknown vendor)

I hope you all have a great day! Happy Stampin' :)

*PS - as soon as I hit 1,000 hits, there will be blog candy to be had!*

Playing Catch Up!

So, I haven't been able to stamp all week! I finally got time this morning, so I combined two challenge from Splitcoast Stampers

I combined the color challenge to use Mellow Moss, Apricot Appeal, Cameo Coral, and Creamy Caramel. At first I really wasn't sure about this combination, but I really like how it turned out!

The other challenge I completed on this card is the Ways to Use it challenge to use rub-ons on your card or project. I decided to use this awesome flourish from the Stampin Up Sale-A-Bration catalog. This is my first time using these rub-ons on a card and I really like how it turned out!

I colored the row of three flowers with Stampin' Up markers (mellow moss and apricot appeal), huffed on it, stamped in a scrap paper and then huffed and stamped on over the sentiment. I like the effect it gave!

The ovals were cut with the Creative Memories oval cutting system... I love it! I need to get the circles next!

Basic Details:
Stamps: Friendship Blooms (Stampin' Up)

Cardstock: Cameo Coral, Mellow Moss, Whisper White, Creamy Caramel (all Stampin' Up)

Embellishments: Apricot Appeal Designer Paper (Stampin' Up), Friendship Booms Rub-Ons (Stampin' Up), Statin Senations Chocolate Ribbon, Silver Brads, Oval Cutting System (Creative Memories)

Unfortunately, I don't have time right now to stamp.. ugh I haven't stamped since last Friday! There's a lot going on at the studio and this morning I have to go see our insurance man!

So, here is the card that was selected! If you participated in this challenge, link your card to my blog so I can check it out!!! The link to the challenge is HERE

I'm not sure what company makes the balloons I used on this, but they are colored with Stampin Up markers with crystal effects and glitter on them. The ribbon is from AC Moore.

Have a great stamping day!!!

A Non-Stamping Entry

Hi all, I hope you all had a great weekend! I had a busy one, so I was unable to stamp or post! But, here is the latest in the Life of Riley....

I don't know if i have told any of you this yet, but I run a dance studio named Divine Dance Center. Recently it was brought to my attention that a dance studio about 7 miles from me opened up named Divine Dance Inc.

My attorney sent them a cease and desist letter ordering them present in writing their plans to change their name by March 31. Yesterday came and went and we heard nothing. Today my attorney got a call from their attorney... this looks like it's going to court and i'm sick to my stomach.. why would someone steal my name? why wouldn't they change it? UGH I don't want to go to court!!!

The only thing that is not getting me totally down is that I have a studio full of students and parents who have my back. All of them are appalled by someone stealing my name. I never really know how territorial they were until this happend!

I am hoping that my attorney got back in touch with theirs and they can settle this out of court. I really don't want to go to court... oh yeah, I already said that!!! Pray that this gets settled with out court and without too much expense!!!

The above picture is of some of my students!
