Moose

Holy MOOSE!  This card was a super duper challenge for me.  Besides the obvious which is I used an image that is completely out of my normal style, I chose to do a sketch that was challenging with an angled layer.  The sketch is this week's CAS(e) this Sketch challenge.  I'm pretty sure my card doesn't qualify as CAS, though.

This card went through so many transformations.  At first, I was going to use the tree image that is in this set... oh, the set is an ancient Stampin' Up set called Pines. The date on it is 1998.  I think I stamped and re-cut that doggone angled layer about 10 times before I finally decided it just wasn't working for me.  Originally, I had stamped the moose onto River Rock cardstock and cut him out, but I wasn't happy how it looked... I tried mounting it on an oval.. hated it, tried just placing it on the card, nope.  Finally, I just did a simple square layer with the moose.

Since I was using an ancient set, I decided to dig up some old designer paper.  This paper is called Apple Cider and I've had it forever... and I still have way more of it... ANYWAY, that led to me digging out some old embellishments.  I found a container of unopened 5/8'' neutral brads, so I threw those on there, used my scallop border punch and some trusty Chocolate Chip striped ribbon.

This card literally took me over an our to make and it serves no purpose whatsoever, but it was good to stretch my limits a little and do something different!

Oh, this is also for today's Free For All challenge on Splitcoast Stampers to use an odd number of stamps.  I used one!
